Vacant Property Insurance

Homes, rental properties, and business buildings can be unoccupied for several reasons. The previous homeowner might have been evicted, for example, and the property might be sitting unoccupied while it awaits a new buyer or lessee.

Vacant structure insurance (also known as vacant home, vacant dwelling or vacant property insurance) is defined as coverage that protects an unoccupied structure during vacancy, should it sustain physical loss or damage from a covered loss.

Your regular homeowners insurance policy may not extend to a home that's vacant. Vacant home insurance policies are designed to cover homes that are vacant because they're in the process of being sold, undergoing repairs or renovations, or otherwise not being lived in on a full-time basis.
